the major.. major ... comeback!

alright... i have been on hiatus ... AGAIN!

guilty as charged!

a writer's block is such a lame alibi as i know for a fact that i am not a writer...just a simple person, jotting down simple thoughts that i called BLOG in my humble space in the cyber.

But with a lot of MAJOR MAJOR things going on around me , I cant contain the flow of thoughts inside my head anymore. I feel my head will explode if i don't find any way for these raging thoughts to be out in the open, regardless of how stupid these thoughts may be.. i still feel the need to write.

so here i am at 3am.. half awake and half asleep (but totally hungry!)..typing my wits away.. or whatever left of it..!

Just recently the Philippines have managed to put itself in a global attention again, on a most shameful way of doing so. We went as far as getting the attention of the CNN people, only to be sarcastically reported. There is no need to go through the detail of the incident, the press has already feasted on it.

But as a Filipino working overseas, I hope that we saw already the wisdom in this fateful incident. Surely there were lots of lessons to be learned. We have been reactive on the incident when being proactive has been needed. Pointing fingers is not necessary at this time as it doesn't really solve anything.

This is a big challenge to the new administration and this is a call for unity again amongst the Filipinos. More than anytime, now is the right time for us to stand as a unified country as a lot of people especially those from Hongkong and China are saying unpleasant things about us. We can't blame them for feeling that way because we do have a lot of shortcomings in handling the hostage incident causing casualties of their people. We also have been hurt with what happened, horrified with guilt for everything that we have failed to do to protect the victims, we have kept mum to the insults being thrown our way. However, we have to understand that this cannot go on forever.

Five years ago in China, a family of fellow Filipino, the Madrigals have been a victim of "almost" the same fate, few of us have known about this, although justice has been served to the victims, but we never seen nor heard an apology from the Chinese community (atleast, none that we knew of). Never did we Filipinos insult or ridicule them for not having protected a Filipino tourists in their country. I think it is bad to say at this time that "the score is even now"... but things happen. No body wants violence. We could only wish we could turn back time and deal with matters differently but it is not possible now. We only have been left with lots of lessons to be learned and wounds to be healed.

With everything having said and done.. I hope we could find it in our hearts to move forward and forgive each other. As a citizen of the world...we cannot hate each other... coz personally I love China, I love Hongkong... a lot of us Filipinos do...

but also as a Filipino, I love Philippines and the Filipinos the most... and forever I will be one in both heart and soul.

Due to my addiction with magazines and my passion of ever being "connected" to the land of the loving and be updated with the Phil. fashion and girlie things, I always request for a COSMO mag (Phil ed. Of course!) for a pasalubong everytime some one is going home for vacation...

when Pepe went home last Oct. 2009, this is what she got for me:

Fine enough! Bea was probably the "it" girl that time...

But what surprise me big time was this...

May 2010 Cosmo Edition, when BOK went home, he brought me this...

Is Bea the only FUN FEARLESS FEMALE who could grace the Cosmo Cover?

the adventures of BOK (part 5)

Hongkong is not just a haven for shopping. It is also a city that offers a wide variety of choices when it comes to satisfying your gastronomic taste. In BOK's humble journey.. he was able to share some of the food he was able to sample in HK.. the rest...well.... he was just too hungry to take pictures before wolfing it all down! So here are some of the left-overs.. hehehe...

one of the FEW hassles I encountered in HK was the language barrier.. imagine how frustrating it is buying a dimsum in 7-11, when all you have to do is make "turo" what ever you like to eat and still it will take ages for you to get what you want.

I am allergic to anything made with squid, so I need to be extra careful in buying stuff made with seafood... making TURO is easy.. but to know if it has squid or not ..that would take your ordering ..foooorreeevaaaaaH.. or things like that..

so to beat the confusion in the "lahi" of Confucius.. (am I right?).. they have these order tablet, (as i'm fond of calling it)... if you cant tell them what you want to eat, these tabs are detachable!

Correctnesssss! You can make these tangal and... plaaaannkkk.... make these dut-dot to the face of the cashier (joke!) hahahah.... the way BOK made it kwento was so funny.... hahahah!

the mighty... D-D-ucks of HK..

the noo-D-D-D-les.....

the the the DIMSUMs .....

the D-d-essertssss.....

the D-rinks.... happines in a bottle... (para sa mga APA boys..! =)

... and in vendo e-v-e-r-y where... =)

the twibbons..

it's already 1:38 am Dubai Local Time...

and 5:38 am Manila time.. May 7, 2010..

and despite the 4297 miles distance from where I am blogging now and Manila, the restlessness of the Filipino for the upcoming election is very much tangible. Thanks to my twitter page i am very much updated with all the happenings in the homeland.

by the look of things, it seems that NOY and GiBO are now head to head in the polls, was it just me or has Villar camp really did became silent all of a sudden?? There had been an uproar amongst the supporters of all the opposing teams, when Iglesia ni Cristo, (a religious group that is believe to have a solid 4million votes) officially declares their support for the NOY-MAR tandem.

I have been back reading my tweets for a good 24 hours and the the colors of yellow and green keeps on dominating the twitter page because of their supporters "twibbons". You can imagine how "dirty" things are becoming as the election day comes to near. Mudslinging is left and right, that I can't help but think, how are these people going to make amends with each other when the election is over and things gets back to normal.

We are only 2 days away from our "future change"... i hope the Filipino people find it in
their hearts to chose the right candidate for a better Philippines.

May we for once set aside our ulterior motives and be guided by our conscience to chose the right person who can really guide us to a brighter future.

the adventures of BOK (part 4)

Bok asked me where's the best place to stay in HK..

I advice him to skip the hotel and ask Dons to look for a dorm..
it is not only practical.. its an enriching experience as well.

From experience, I have known that when you travel alone and on a limited time, you rarely stay at the hotel. Of course the purpose of the trip is to go out and see things. But more than that, you also try to learn and blend with the people. Discover things from their daily living.. adopt the good sides and learn from the flawed ones.

If you are taking a dorm, 2 requirements are always non-negotiable... clean bed.. and clean toilet (at the very least). If there is one thing I' m so proud to brag about the Pinoys, itwould be about their passion in running a clean household.

Dons had been such a help. She was able to get BOK, the place that we were looking for:
Bok stayed in one of the apartments inside this building... I don't know what if it has something to do with tradition or simply to ensure the security , but almost all the house/apartment in HK has dual doors.. above pic shows the first one.... and ..yes this is.. the second... =)

I don't know if it is because of the 8-hour trip, one stop-over, jetlag and the bottles of wines taken on the plane, but I found this in his cam. A picture of him taken inside the dorm's rest room.... what caught my attention was not his image.. but these "interesting note" posted on the toilet wall...

ME: what does this poster says???

BOK : "HAYOP KA! wag kang tumungtong sa kubeta!

(hahahahahahahahahah..... I died!)

One thing is for sure though.. the dorm DOES have... a clean toilet!

the adventures of B-O-K (part 3)

there are so many reasons why I want this trip of BOK to push through...

apart from the obvious reason of "unwinding" and seeing the other parts of the world except for Philippines and Dubai, I want him to move out of his comfort zones for a while and go through the challenge of being on his own. This is far from saying that our life here in Dubai is "comfortable", working overseas doesn't always implies a well-heeled existence. Advantages are there, yes, but that doesn't always means we are OK.. (atleast, NOT in ALL the sense of the word!).
So.. being on your own is one thing. But being on your own with a limited resources of survival is..... something else entirely.... hmmmnn.... let's see how BOK managed to survive with only this....
there goes the 100 USD.... now 770 HK dollars.. plus he got these...

he got these OCTOPUS card (for the transport) and HK Sim Card (he use to BUG me!) while he is "AWAY"! These, of course is not included in the budget... its all courtesy of ..

tchaaaaaarraaaaannnnnn.......!!
His partner in Crimes in HK.. (his Kumareng Dons)... BOK and Donna got reunited by the Mafia Wars..yes oh yes.. THAT MAFIA...!

They have known each other since high school, a big group of Montessori Mafias BEFORE, Facebook's Mafia Wars addict NOW.

I gave BOK a 100USD-budget-challenge...

He used "alliance" to beat me on it!

Darn! parang naisahan ako dun ah!

Lesson :

In times of tough challenges...never under estimate the power of friendship...

...and the sovereignty of the Mafia wars.. =)
